Online Success Story UrbanMinx Launches its 3rd Generation Website
October20, 2010- Medford, Oregon: Fashion, beauty and clothing store UrbanMinx made its first sale in owner Melissa’s rental home in Ashland, Oregon at a “pamper party” in 2004. Now, two retail stores and a very successful website later, UrbanMinx is making waves in the fashion industry.
“I’ve always had a passion for fashion beginning with my work at Harrods in London. It’s been so fun to bring the world of fashion to the United States. We don’t limit our reach to just Europe but also import brands from Asia, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and more,” says Walton.
’s website has come a long way since its origin in 2006. In 2005 its first retail store opened up in a small location in Ashland, Oregon. When the store was not busy with customers, Melissa would spend time creating and updating the first UrbanMinx website built off from a Yahoo shopping cart template. As the retail location and the Yahoo website increased in popularity it became apparent that to compete with the ever changing world of online shopping a new website was necessary. The second UrbanMinx site was launched in 2007 and by December 2008 the website was responsible for 40% of the business revenue! “Most of our online sales come from New York, Los Angeles, Miami and other large cities,” says Walton.
UrbanMinx now has two retail locations in Southern Oregon, but the owner claims it’s the online business that has kept the doors open. “Our website really made our business in the past two years. Online sales seem to be weathering well in this economy.”
Just in time for the holiday season, UrbanMinx has launched a new, third generation website (www.UrbanMinx.com). “The new site is modeled off of the best practices in the industry. Now men and women can shop by size, brand, style and many other criteria to find just what they’re looking for,” says Walton.
To celebrate the launch of the third generation website, UrbanMinx is offering a 20% storewide coupon to thank their existing customers and welcome new ones. “We sincerely hope the new website offers a user-friendly as well as visually pleasing experience to our customers”, says Walton.
