The truth about BED:STU is that, in 1995 at the same point in time, three friends realized they needed a job and there was no way they were ever going to work for anyone but themselves again. They had similar backgrounds and all agreed they needed to be making the decisions and creating their own path.

Pooling their unique strengths in design, sourcing, and sales, the three friends propelled themselves by sheer tenacity and strength of vision to become BED:STU, a company known for its progressive footwear.

When these three got together, they needed a name that would represent what BED:STU is all about, quality shoes with taking names attitude. There is a neighborhood in the heart of Brooklyn, Bedford Stuyvesant, whose streets have given birth to hard-knuckle boxers and hard living musicians.

At BED:STU it's not about where you came from, it's about where you've decided to go.

And where we have decided to go is always ahead. We will never be the biggest guy out there: to get big you have to slow down. BED:STU is lean, fast, and tough like the streets that inspired our shoes. And as long as we can make our way, we will make shoes for those who have no use for the beaten path.
