About Us

Once upon a time, there was a little English girl that dreamed of one day growing up and having her very own beautiful boutique filled with wonderful and delightful things. She would tell her friends her dream to have the most exquisite shop where people came to have fun as much as shop That girl grew up to be Melissa Walton, owner and founder of UrbanMinx.com.

On completing college, Melissa determined to be the best, shot for the stars and managed to secure a place at Harrods of Knightsbridge, London, the most prestigious retail team in the world. After 3 wonderful years at Harrods and having gained the most amazing insight and experience into the world of luxury retail in Europe, Melissa moved to Australia after accepting a position in fashion PR and marketing. Eager to gain an international perspective on the industry and keen to stretch her wings, Melissa had a wonderful time in Sydney. Enjoying the difference in culture, fashion and art, just enriched her knowledge and perspective on fashion further. Then in 2003, Melissa met her sweetheart Shawn McFadden (an Oregonian), after a whirlwind romance they soon took flight from Sydney to Ashland, Oregon. Melissa loved the untamed natural beauty of Oregon but she noticed one flaw - there was no where fun and exciting to SHOP!!! She had to indulge in expensive trips to San Francisco, LA and New York to find the quality clothing and customer service she had grown accustomed to living in cities like London and Sydney and spending time in European cities, like Paris, Milan, Madrid and Rome. Melissa knew this was her opportunity to bring big city fashion to Oregon and this is what kicked her creative thoughts into gear - to open her own style of boutique. In 2005 all this dreaming and creativity culminated in UrbanMinx, a cute little shop in Ashland that focuses as much on having a good time as it does on providing the highest in fashion from all over the world. After much success Melissa opened her second store in Medford, Oregon, closely followed by her 3rd in Bend Oregon. After receiving requests from out of town customers that they would like to be able to shop online with UrbanMinx, Melissa decided to launch UrbanMinx.com and take the UrbanMinx essence and personality out onto the web! After 3 years of rapid expansion, and with the immense help of her team Melissa now finds herself the owner and operator of 3 boutiques and urbanminx.com.

The inspiration for the name?
"My London friends would always tease me for being cheeky, outspoken and maybe a little naughty, they would say ."You are such a little Minx!!!" It was clear that this was the obvious name for the business, after all we pride ourselves in bringing out the "Minx" in everyone!!!"
